Blue Canyon
The
Blue Canyon Country Club has 2 courses – the world famous Canyon Course and
a recent addition, The Lakes.
The Canyon proved its championship mettle as the venue for the 1994 and 1998
Johnnie Walker Classic contests, which tested the abilities of such golfers
as Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Fred Couples, Greg Norman and other world famous
touring pros. Experts say The Lakes is up to the competition from its sister
course and should grow into 18 holes of golf that can challenge the best.
The Lakes fairways are wider and the greens larger and less undulating, thus
offering room to be aggressive off the tee, with approach shots and on the
green. By contrast The Canyon Course calls for great accuracy all the way
round.
Blue
Canyon occupies a beautiful and exotic location, formally a tin mine set in
rubber plantations among craggy hills. Fairways unfold over sloping rolling
lands and are punctuated by various hazards in the form of narrow landing
areas and well-guarded greens. Early holes run through avenues of towering
trees and are relatively less difficult than the later holes. The challenge
of the back nine, on the other hand, is progressively more demanding.
Sitting over all is The Golfers Lodge a 49 room, five-star hotel.
