Diving

When we are finished, this will be a very large section of the website. One can see the future content by looking at the many directories and subdirectories which we have created. These will be filled piece by piece.

Phuket has emerged as one of the world’s favourite diving destinations. There are many reasons. First and foremost come the diving conditions: warm, calm and clear waters that make simply being in the ocean a pleasure. This is followed by the interesting sealife the diver finds below: reefs with many colourful corals, small reef fish in uncountable forms and huge monsters of the sea that enthral divers with great regularity, whalesharks and mantas.

No place could be more suitable for learning to dive. These ideal sea conditions are backed-up by many dive companies of international 5-star standard that offer beginner courses. After class room instruction and swimming pool practice the learner will be given first dives in comfortable and reassuring ocean conditions.

Many companies here offer diving day trips to a variety of nearby sites, including at least one large wreck. These are advertised on dive shop fronts at ever beach, and easy to contact after arriving in Phuket. Liveaboard diving is also popular out of Phuket, with most being booked in advance. Most boats head for the Similan Islands, some 90 kilometres Northwest of Phuket, while a few venture further afield into the untouched islands and reefs of Burma. All major dive companies offering liveaboard trips have web sites that provide all details.

Diving is also available in the Phi Phi Islands and in Krabi, both of which have competent companies and good conditions.
