A Beautiful Sea - So Play!
The Andaman Sea is a small but delightful little ocean, notable for is tranquillity, the clarity and warmth of its waters, and the beauty of it islands.

Such attributes make this a near paradise for those interested in watersports including diving, sailing, power boating, game fishing, windsurfing, and snorkelling. Even in winter the water temperature around Phuket is a delightful 28 degrees Celsius, and falling overboard here, or getting washed in sea spray, can be a true delight. Forget the misery of getting soaked in icy waters, or wrapping up in thick coats and rain jackets to go to sea.

DIVING
The diving industry is perhaps the best developed here, with world-class options and operators available. Learning to dive while taking a holiday here is a worthwhile experience and great fun.

SAILING
Sailing in such a beautiful environment is truly delightful, and both bareboats and crewed charter boats are available.

PHUKET'S 2 REGATTAS
Two regattas are held in Phuket s beautiful waters each year. First is the well-established KING S CUP REGATTA, held early every December, and certainlyAsia s most prestigious sailing event with aproximately 100 entries each year.

The new-comer is a fun regatta held among the islands of amazing Phang Nga Bay, the PHANG NGA - KRABI REGATTA, coming up for its fouth year during Chinese new Year in February 2002.

POWERBOATING
Powerboats are available for charter, though the range is not great. There are plenty of smaller craft up to 35 feet available.

GAME FISHING
Game fishing is in its infancy here, which suits many visitors. Only a few modern, well-equipped boats are available, though the crew on the local Thai boats knew how to find the fish also.

SEA KAYAKING
Sea canoeing is the latest sport to take off here, and for this the entire Phuket region excels due to the spectacular environment.

WIND SURFING
Windsurfing is can be excellent in the generally light winds here, but it’s limited with few real surfers in residence and boards available for rent.

BEACH SPORTS
While there are few organised beach sports here in Phuket, there are many things you can do yourself. And we give hints on where to join beach volleyball in the evenings.

SNORKELLING
Snorkelling is easy, and most charter boats, even the abundant speed boats, have some gear on board. We give some hints on where to go, with or without a boat.
