A Cool Million for a Piece of the Hottest

Million-dollar
villas of the kind that have been claiming the finest stretches of
Phuket’s coastline have discovered Krabi – and claimed a jewel of a site.
Welcome to Tham Phra Nang, the Princess Cave, surely Thailand’s most
beautiful beach. Behind the green bushes that happily still give this beach an entirely natural look lies the famous Rayavadee Premier Resort. The 10-villa project is the property development arm of the Rayavadee, and will be a kind of adjunct of the resort. Called Rayavadee Annex, the villas will occupy a small strip of land directly adjoining the beach and bordered at the back by one of Krabi’s famous limestone cliffs. The design concept is Thai influenced, with the four separate buildings of each villa complex – three bedrooms and a living-dining room – connected by a central balcony, shaped so that it flows among the trees. The roofs display distinctly Thai lines. Strict environmental controls in the owners’ contracts include a ban on the cutting of any tree more that 5cm in diameter. On this car-free peninsula, the only transport residents will be permitted are golf buggies. The developers of this resort have resisted the usual temptation to jam in the maximum number of rooms. Instead they took the up-market, environment-friendly route, scattering a small number of tasteful high-end bungalows among the coconut trees. We can expect more of the same when their new villas are expected to command a cool million dollars – on one of the hottest pieces of property in the world. |
