Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, the Swiss hotel operator, will be opening its second establishment on Phuket at Bang Tao Beach on the island’s west coast at what was formerly known as The Palm Beach Club.
The rebranded Mövenpick Residences Bang Tao Beach Phuket hotel will follow in the line of the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach Phuket and comes as part of Mövenpick’s strategy of developing its Thai portfolio to six hotels by 2014. The operator currently owns 69 properties in 26 countries and has a further 19 in construction.
The Mövenpick Residences Bang Tao Beach Phuket has 39 suites and penthouses, some of which have private swimming pools or jacuzzis. It also offers a large communal swimming pool, a restaurant, a fitness centre and a spa. The other Mövenpick hotel on the island, at Karon Beach, has 159 suites with sundecks and outdoor rain showers, as well as plunge pools in some, along with 175 renovated rooms.
Mövenpick Group was founded in Switzerland in 1948 and is also very well known for its food, especially its ice cream.
